Studio Daniel Libeskind: AutoCAD 2007 Training and Deployment

Studio Daniel Libeskind (SDL) is a world-renowned architecture firm headquartered in NYC. With 70 employees and projects happening across the globe, including the new World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, SDL can’t afford wasting time waiting on their computers to work right.

And SDL was doing a lot of waiting, swamping the CG help desk with support calls while trying to upgrade to AutoCAD 2007 and maintain their production.

CG consultants knew they could improve the situation. “They just needed training, but it was hard to make it happen,” said CG consultant James Pertusi. “We trained them in teams while they worked on their projects, which worked for everyone.”

The training went so well that one SDL staffer called the CG consultants “IT Ninjas.”

“AutoCAD 2007 has a brand new set of complicated features. The training lessons by Control Group were concise and practical. We learned the new tools and used it promptly,” said Ning Hiransaroj, an architectural designer at SDL.

Understanding SDL’s needs was the key to bringing down help desk calls and improving workflow. CG worked closely with SDL to find a way to train their staff on the new software in a way that would improve their production, saving time and money.

Control Group organized project teams and showed them how to use the new software and set up a system of controls to properly maintain and monitor production.

Now, help desk calls are down and production is up, and designers at SDL can focus on the possibilities, not the limitations, of their IT.
